Mumbai is one of the most competitive cities in India when it comes to cricket, on an average lakhs of cricketers pursue professional cricket daily and many even make it to the Indian team, IPL teams and Ranji Teams. In such competitive environment you need to be at the top of your game & indulge in best practice and that is where the concept of sidearm has evolved in the last few years. Sidearm specialists are basically bowlers with a stick and they can bowl fast at multiple lengths which results in quality batting practice.
One such sidearm specialist who is making his mark in Mumbai is young Abhishek Jain. 23yr old Abhishek is a professional cricketer himself but he hopped on to this new trend of sidearm practice 4 years ago when it was just evolving. Abhishek currently provides practice at Dinesh Lad’s cricket academy where he bowls to many top level cricketers. Dinesh Lad is one of the most reputed coaches in Mumbai who has given players like Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur hence it’s certainly a very good opportunity for Abhishek to work under his watchful eyes.
In the last 4 years Abhishek has worked a lot on his sidearm skills and today he can bowl consistently at a speed of 130+ kmph. Outswingers, Bouncers, Yorkers, you name it and he can provide you practice according to a batters requirement.
Abhishek has worked with many IPL and Ranji level players right from the likes of Atif Attarwala (Mumbai Sr Team), Shashank Singh (IPL & Ranji Trophy), Siddhesh Lad (India A & IPL), Suved Parkar (Mumbai Jr Team), Akhil Rajput (Ranji Player), Aayush Jethwa (Mumbai Jr Team), Pranav Kapadia, Ishaan Roy, Rudra Tank (Mumbai Jr Team), Bhaktyar Irani (Actor) amongst others.
Speaking with Bombaynews.in, Abhishek shared “I aim to work with the Mumbai Ranji Team, I want to give best practice to our Mumbai players and ensure our Mumbai team always remains at the top. My ultimate dream is to be a part of the Indian Team and with right amount of hardwork, honesty, commitment and guidance, I am hopeful I will progress in the coming years. I have worked with many Ranji and IPL level players while I currently work under Dinesh Lad sir who is the coach of Rohit Sharma, Shardul Thakur, Siddhesh Lad and many many successful cricketers, I am enjoying my opportunity of working at his academy and I wish to progress every year as one of the best sidearm specialists in Mumbai”
