St. Xavier’s College’s inter-collegiate festival and one of Asia’s oldest, Malhar Fest, returns on 13th, 14th, and 15th August 2026 with a theme that feels less like a concept and more like a reflection of people who experience it, Iridescence: The Spectrum of Expressions.

For decades, Malhar has been standing as a benchmark for other college festivals. With colleges from across the country sending their best, and a legacy spanning literary arts, performing arts, and fine arts competitions alongside the iconic Malhar Conclave, a platform that has hosted some of the sharpest minds and biggest names in the country like Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Naryan Murthy, Shabana Azmi and many
more.

At the heart of the Malhar 2026 logo is a moth, symbolising transformation. Like everyone who enters Malhar, it is drawn to a flame with the urge to create something meaningful from the moment. Its four wings represent the Quartet, while the three jewels beneath signify the three domains they lead. The upper wings also resemble eye masks when viewed from a different perspective, reflecting how Malhar holds a different meaning for everyone.

Iridescence : The Spectrum of Expressions, celebrates the ever-changing nature of identity and expression. Just like light refracts into different colours, every individual carries multiple perspectives, emotions, and stories that evolve through experiences and connections. It celebrates the patchwork of colourful moments that tie us together, woven with the same passion and potential, honouring the fluidity of what it means to express. The theme embraces this fluidity, turning Malhar into a prism where creativity, individuality, and collective energy come together to create something vibrant, meaningful, and unforgettable. For the performers, the stage is a sanctuary and a challenge. For the audience, a space to make memories. For the organisers, a collective dream come true.

Malhar 2026 spans three full days of competitions, conversations, and performances. The Malhar Conclave returns with a lineup built to challenge the way you think, alongside celebrity appearances and headline performances that have consistently redefined what a college festival can be. This year, the festival doesn’t just return, it opens up to new avenues depending on where you’re standing. Whether you’ve been here before or not, Malhar invites you to experience it differently: not as a single destination,
but as a world of possibilities waiting to unfold.
